      Entretien

This company is a Joke!!. The Sr. Manager, People Acquisition requests a virtual interview via email for the role. Once on the video call you could see the look of shock and disgust, no welcoming smile, no excitement to tell me about the company, because she was expecting someone different, possibly the same demographic as her, due to my name, anything other than me. Although my system tested fine before connecting, there was audio issues. She wanted to reschedule then said she would just call. While waiting for the call, she sent an email to tell me my number listed on the resume is not working, I emailed the same number and received her call. On the call, she was still very dry and unenthusiastic, she didn’t bother to talk about the company, the role or to thank me for my time. Her first question is: Do you know that the job is in a different state? I explain that I am open to the area. She says no relocation is provided so you would have to pay for the move yourself. I'm still fine to proceed. She asks about my background(I go over my last position listed on my resume). She jumps in to tell me that they have a position in my city that you would be better suited for and so you wouldn't have to move. The position is a totally different role, so I was confused. I still say that I’m fine with the role for which I’m interviewing, and she tells me they already have three great candidates that are local to the area and that the hiring manager really wants people that are local to hire fast. At this point it’s clear that I am not being considered and that she really wanted to just cancel the interview altogether, not reschedule, because once she saw me there was no interest. I considered the other role just to see where things would go and stay positive. They went nowhere. So, you schedule an interview with someone that you know was not in the area because you were excited about my background and who I may be, but once you see me, the story changes to: the hiring manager needs someone in the area, you already have three great candidates, I’m better suited for a different role and you want to hire fast? I was never asked how soon I could move or start. Why was an interview even scheduled? I’m thinking, did you know where I was located? Did you read my resume? Of course, she did, she just wasn’t interested and decided to be unprofessional trying to discourage me. This was so inconsiderate and disrespectful of my time and efforts of changing my schedule and preparing. It amazes me the people that have jobs and keep advancing. Another case of “It’s them, not you.”
