Application I applied online on the MHA MacIntyre Hudson website in March and was asked to complete a few online tests a month later in April. The application itself is very thorough and allows you to detail your reasons for applying to MacIntyre Hudson, why you would be a good fit, along with details about any experience you may have. Tests The online tests were administered by Kenexa and can be very difficult. The best thing you can do is to do as many practice tests as you can. The tests included a Verbal Reasoning test and a Numerical Reasoning test. Assessment Centre After completing the online tests successfully, a few days later I was sent an email where I was invited to an Assessment Centre at my chosen office which would be approximately 1 week later. The Assessment Centre comprised of three tasks: a group task (plus presenting your work), a numerical test (similar to the online test), and a presentation which you are asked to prepare in advance on a certain company (you are told which company). The day started off first when I entered the MacIntyre Hudson office and took a seat with other applicants where we all began introducing ourselves. After this we were taken to a large room where we were given a presentation about MHA MacIntyre Hudson. After this we were asked to introduce ourselves (done in a very fun way). Once we have all introduced ourselves we begin our group task. The group tasks starts with reading a passage about a company and then answering several questions on the company. Once the time limit is up, we then present our answers as a group. After the group task we then complete a numerical test which involved answering questions where you are required to analyse data. This test is very similar to the online tests you complete. We then have a lunch where we get to speak to a partner as well as a trainee both from the ACA intake and the AAT intake. This is your chance to ask questions about their experience within the firm. The last task is to do your presentation of the company you were given beforehand. You are given 5 minutes to do this. After this you must answer two questions from the other applicants. You are allowed to bring in notes to the presentation which is a big plus, however it must not be used as a script. At the very end, if there is time, you will be given individual feedback for the day and will be told if you are successful in reaching the next stage, the partner interview. (You are also reimbursed for your travel expense up to £100) Partner Interview The partner interview was about 1 week after the assessment centre, and it was with a partner and a director of the company. They will ask you questions about some of the things in your application and on your CV as well as other questions you should expect. The partner interview is very relaxed and the interviewers are very friendly. I then found out the outcome of my interview about 1 week after. Overall the experience of applying to MHA MacIntyre Hudson was extremely smooth and informative of what the firm is like.

Assessment Centre then in-person interview. Friendly throughout, questions mainly competency-based - was not overly challenging, it felt more like a conversation. "Why not investment banking" "Walk me through your CV"

The process required an online application to be completed, an assessment centre and a final interview. After completing the online application form I was invited to complete an online Numerical Reasoning Test. After I was successful with the previous two steps I was invited to attend an assessment centre at Milton Keynes. After confirming that I would be attending I was sent information detailing the need to prepare a 5 minute presentation on a well known company. On the day, I was given a friendly welcome to office and put immediately at ease. We were given the opportunity while other candidates were arriving to chat and get to know one another. The day officially started with a brief presentation on the company and an introduction to the team who would be assessing, and other perspective employees. We were then split into two and given a group work activity to complete, this provided an opportunity to demonstrate team work and reasoning skills. The company provided the opportunity to chat with employees over a buffet lunch about the company, this helped to provide some invaluable information and insight into the company. A numerical test was completed on the day very similar to the online one previously completed, as such, it would be best to bring a calculator. The final part of the day involved presenting the previously prepared information to a small group. The team split the group up in order to make it a bit less daunting, which was a nice idea. After the presentation you were expected to answer two questions put forward on your topic - these were decided by others attending the assessment centre and were not too challenging to answer. The day ended with opportunity to receive individual feedback as well as whether or not you had progressed to the next stage. The interview was very similar to the assessment centre in the teams attempts to make you feel at ease. I was interviewed by an Audit Directors and a Tax Director. This was an enjoyable experience and gave the opportunity to show your personality as well as ability. I was informed that I would hear back from the team as to whether or not I was successful within the next day. Just over an hour after the interview was completed I was telephoned and informed I was successful. Overall, each step of the process has been enjoyable and positive. Feedback was provided at every step and was always prompt. The team at both the assessment and the office applied for were accommodating, friendly and approachable.
