First step was to complete both a cognitive and behavioural test at home. This was briefly followed by an invitation to attend a 'face to face' interview at the main headquarters. The interview was scheduled to be in two parts: 1 hour with HR and 1.5 hours with the hiring manager.
The HR interview began with the same two tests (for validation purposes), however the system did not register the results and so I did not receive any feedback. Following this, there were a series of standard HR questions about motivation, strengths/weaknesses, and 'tell me about a time when...' style questions.
During the interview with the hiring manager, we discussed the background for why Maersk were advertising the position. It was a positive conversation – we even extended the interview by an extra 30 minutes – however on reflection, I believe that the key sticking point was that my personality did not match what the company expected from its candidates.
Following the interview, there was a long delay waiting for a response from HR. After 6 weeks I received an email to say they were continuing with other candidates. The company did not provide any feedback or reason as to why I was not suitable. Since then, they have repeatedly extended the deadline for the opening, which suggests they are finding it difficult to find a creative candidate who also possesses strong corporate consultancy skills.
