Invited Back, But No Genuine Consideration - Here is what happened.
I interviewed for a Corporate Paralegal role after being contacted again approximately one year after a prior interview cycle and rejection. Multiple corporate paralegal roles were open, and several rounds were scheduled quickly over a short period. The role was described inconsistently and with clear uncertainty depending on who I spoke with, making it difficult to understand the actual opportunity. There were hardly any substantive questions beyond repeated discussion of my perceived in-house versus law firm experience, with limited interest in my broader transactional, M&A, IPO, and ECVC background. I was notified of the rejection shortly after the final interviews, in the same manner and with the exact wording as before – a Jobvite automated email. After being invited back a second time, the overall experience was disappointing and left the impression that the process was more about procedure than genuine consideration, with the preferred candidate identified before my interviews.
