I received a phone call several days after completing an online application, and it was HR for Lowes, asking if I was still interested in the job that I applied for. She immediately gave me the date and time to be at the store to initiate the interview and hiring processes. Once arriving, I was given paperwork to sign permitting for a drug test. Don't know if this normally happens, but I was given a swab by HR twice. She then contained everything securely to be shipped off to a medical center for testing. I was then asked to come back on another day for the follow up process. HR was very informative about everything, and also looked very professional when giving me that swab drug test. The next time I came back, there was about ten of us new hires there. We all sat at a conference table and introduced ourselves with our paper-written name tags on (Hello, my name is Jack.), with all kinds of paperwork in front each of us. HR came and greeted us coordially and then began the process. She began telling us about the birth of Lowes company, its founders, and then the policies that they lived by that got the company successful..., so forth and so on... Everything didn't go all so wellat first. There was paperwork missing that we all had to fill out, so we all had to come back the next day to finish things up. Each day that we all came for the hiring process, we stayed mostly the whole day.., listening at talk, filling out paperwork, and watching videos. Other people from the store and management department was coming in the conference room also to welcome us, and give us their take on the company's philosophy. You can imagine how all that went... There was periods where boredom and nodding out took place unwillingly. As days went by, we was introduced to the company's computer, learning how to log into the system with our names and passwords, and learning other functions along with that. We all took a tour of the store with HR, meeting the employees, and just to get a feel of our surroundings. Later through the process we all was given a test, either to work alone or in groups. We were given a list of many items on paper that the store sold, and we had to go find them in the store. Each employee of the store that we met and ask to assist us if we had a problem, we had to write their names down on paper as well. It was a fun and exciting experirnce. It was all to get us familiar with our work place and the employees. While nearing the end of the process of hiring, we was lectured again about the rules, policies, regulations, and what Lowes stood for. Our main purpose there was for Customer Service. We was then given our name tags, our Lowes jacket, where and what department we would be working in, and when to return back for our real official first day on the job.
