      Entretien

Submitted online with my resume. Phone screen. In person, with several people in several teams. I felt like the core products team was more interested in complaining about the founding partners than actually finding a good fit for the position. I also heard all of the complaints about lack of process, no leadership, culture of fear of making small mistakes and not being "on call" whenever the founder wants to "obssess" over some random last min. project or detail. One of the core products team told me the company is just a sales front for cheap China toys that they paint different colors than the originals that are copied off of the internet, so that it makes it look like this company has a unique brand- not inventions or new ideas. That person told me that its not really a lie because the company claims they 'curate' toys, not invent them. Their dev process is to hunt for things the founders like online from other companies then buy them, send them out to a few friends kids to play with them and then the founders have to approve the toys. once they are approved they make them in different colors than the ones they bought online and sell them with their brand on them. She also told me that it is completely exausting to work there and that most people are discouraged and want to leave because of the female founder being so unfocused and not paying attention to the core priorities which should be helping parents. She said there is no program for developing the information giving to parents - just the founder regurgitating the stuff she gets from other sources online, or part of a book she read in the past, and that they don't believe children should ever turn on phones or computers or any electronics at all. I wouldn't want to be part of a company that doesn't believe in teaching children skills in computers and electronics since we all need that to go to school and to also find good jobs. In my opinion this program i learned about is very, very deficient in preparing children for real life, especially by copying toys that are already out there (no new ideas at all) and made cheaply in China and then marked up to make a big profit, so I didn't take the job.
