Incredibly long and inconsistent interview process. No Portfolio review. Higher level management seemed to have negative opinion of designers in general. 4 Interviews: Interview #1 - General Overview. After #1: Personality Tests + Assessments Interview #2: Asked a lot about my process and asked me to talk through re-designing a screen. (I would recommend this be an actual test in the future, perhaps even before interviewing candidates.) After #2: More Personality Tests & Assessments Interview #3: They spent most of the interview discussing unrelated topics and questions more meant to question personality not skill or ability. No portfolio review or discussion about process and work. After #3: Soft offer asking Asked if I can start the following Monday. I accept. Request for more work samples. Interview #4: They spent the entire interview talking about kinds of designers they don't like, and asked me how I was different. Felt like they had a negative opinion of designers. Am Scheduled for 5th and final interview. Interview is cancelled and soft offer is rescinded based on 'taste'. My recommendation to LeadingAgile would be to understand the role you are hiring for before you set out and perhaps look at the 'Designer Interview Process' of companies that know what they are doing. Also consider doing a panel interview because answering the same questions over and over again to different people makes it feel like you don't communicate internally.

Sorry you had a poor experience. This was definitely a new role for us, not in our core area of expertise. We are an agile transformation consultancy, but we were hiring a designer for an internal product we've had under development for a few years. After a few revs of the interview process, we got better internal alignment around what we were looking for, and ended up with a solid designer who has worked out very well. Sorry it didn't work out with you but it sounds like our timing was off. We were definitely getting it figured it out when you applied. Thanks for the feedback.
