TL;DR Don't ever go there! After the first screening phone interview, I had a technical interview of 1.5 hours with two team members from another team. Several days later I was notified that I passed this interview which means I will have to do a home assignment which they give me 1 week to submit!! 1 week! I really don't understand why would an employer send you a home assignment which requires more than 3-4 hours to complete?! what is the intention? that's how you filter out candidates? Anyway, I accepted to do the home assignment and agreed with the recruiter regarding the date of submission. I started to work on this home assignment a couple of days after the day I received it. To be honest, this is the most boring home assignment I've had in the 10 years of my career! It is totally unrelated to the position I've been interviewing for. Anyway, due to the fact I've been told I have 1 week for this assignment, I supposed I shouldn't finish it in one day. They apparently looking for the "extra stuff". Two days before submission, I contacted the recruiter to notify them that I will submit the assignment on time as agreed. On the same day later in the evening, they called me and notified me that someone else interviewing for the same position, finished the home assignment in 1 day, did already the interview afterward, and got accepted! I was fuming! I skipped a weekend with my family in order to finish the home assignment on time. I notified them two days before submission that I am going to submit the assignment on time. With all said, they decided to proceed with another candidate because he finished the home assignment in 1 day. You see, a 1 week home assignment has been finished in 1 day! I could finish it in 3 hours, but when they said we will give me 1 week, I supposed I should invest more time and effort in my solution. So unprofessional, pathetic, no transparency, no respect for the candidate and his time.... I could add more and more negative points for them.
