The hiring process is not fair and does not reflect the truth.The interview went quite successfully from my perspective... However, today I learned that I am not even invited to a second interview. The reason given is a lack of experience in people management! but I don't find this reason very logical. I have over 7 years of experience in people management. IN fact, there was no clear definition or criteria in the job description for this.

Started with a phone interview that included many many "Tell me about a time when..." questions. At the end of the call, we scheduled an in-person tour of the laboratory for the following week. After the tour, there was a panel interview with the other members of my desired department. Everyone was very friendly and easy to talk to. At the end of the interview, I was given thirty minutes to complete a word problem exemplifying a typical task in the lab. I was given an excel spreadsheet and instructed to create two-to-three tables and graphs analyzing the data. I was able to give my discussion /conclusion orally.
