I had a video interview with HR which went well, and then a second interview downtown Toronto with a senior designer. I was not living downtown at the time so I commuted for the hour long interview which they strongly suggested I put together a slide deck to go over my portfolio, rather than just using my website portfolio. I did this and went well. They invited me to a third interview which was a 4 hour assignment. The assignment was 2 parts, the first part was a whiteboarding assignment where I was supposed to brainstorm about a travelling app on the spot while 2 people watched me silently. It was pretty uncomfortable as I was unclear what direction they wanted me to go, and they were really vague with instructions. For the second part, I was to redesign a hotel website page but make it more luxurious. I made a really cool concept and shared it back with them at the end. The senior designer was really kind but the design lead was a bit condescending in his tone and kept asking me "Is that it?". After investing 10-15 hours total in the interview process, they waited two weeks after my assignment to tell me that they went with another candidate.
