      Entretien

The hiring process for me was six weeks. I did it while in another recruitment process and disclosed that to the recruiter, which didn’t seem to have an impact on my chances. The entire interview process was done over Google Meet calls. A month or so after applying, I got an email from a talent acquisition manager who invited me to book via an online portal, the first part was: Exploratory Interview (45 mins): This was a basic get-to-know you interview to get a bead on your personality, skills and so on. Be warned: you get asked for a salary expectation during this call, which I deferred on. Logic Test & Bar-Raiser (1.5 hrs): The logic test is live while an interviewer observes during a call. You get the results immediately and can discuss them a bit. I found guides online (look for “Klarna Klattis test”) and with just being roughly familiar with the patterns I got 17/18. I was told outright it wasn’t a deal-breaker if I did badly. After the logic test was a “bar-raiser” - a behavioral interview based on three or four of Klarna’s Leadership principles, so have stories ready that speak to those principles in some way. This interview was with another frontend designer. This was the most valuable experience in the process for me, because talking to them about key aspects of the job helped me prepare for the further steps of the process. Skills Interview (1.5 hrs): I met with a senior manager and another person in the role I was interviewing for. You discuss your design/programming experience and abilities, and where your strengths and weaknesses may lie. Then there are two fifteen minute tests at the end where you explain a block of code and give feedback on a design template. Know the basics of good UX design, know the basics of React, and have an eye for detail to catch any errors - and you should do fine. Team Fit Interview (45 mins): Two folks I would be working with talked with me for a bit about the everyday expectations and flow of the job. I got asked a couple more behavioral questions based on the Klarna leadership principles, and I got an opportunity to ask questions on everyday life working at Klarna, like how teams collaborate and what the typical work schedule for a day looked like. My final interview was on a Thursday afternoon and I got a call offering me the position on the following Tuesday. I worked for Klarna for six weeks - about as long as the recruitment pipeline - and then Klarna cut 10% of its workforce. Lol. That said, no one AT Klarna, including people in the interview process, posed any issues. Everyone was welcome and positive, and knew that being a junior you value stuff like support and opportunities to develop.
