I was extended an offer on a Thursday at 3pm and at that time let them know I would have an answer early the next week. I spoke with an HR rep before end of day Monday of the next week and let them know I had another offer, but would prefer JBS. The next morning I received a call resinding the offer. They stated it was due to the extended amount of time I took to respond. I re-enforced the fact that I let them know a time frame and that I personally would never count non-business days in a scenario like this. With that considered I only took 2hrs on Thursday, All of Friday, and a few hours Monday to respond. I asked if it was related to my counter offer (of which was only $3,000 over the original offer and still below the posted cap) and they said they support counter offers, but the time it took for me to respond was too long.

Very lengthy, was asked some odd questions that made me feel uncomfortable. There were various rounds of interviews with different groups which is fairly standard. But left a strange impression on me. Needed a position so I accepted.
