J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 1 jour. J'ai passé un entretien chez InventCan (Toronto, ON)

      Entretien

I initially got a call from InventCan and had a phone interview that lasted about 15 min before I was asked to come in for an in person interview. It was fairly typical. It was when I went in for the in person interview that I should have listened to my gut instincts. The interview lasted almost 4 hours and most of that time was spent waiting around. When I got there, I talked to someone from HR who asked very typical HR questions. When I interview with someone from the tech department, I should have known that they knew NOTHING about UX. I kept using fairly common UX jargon like "low fidelity wireframes" and "user personas" and they looked at me like I was growing a second head. The test I took had everything to do with the UI elements and making things look "pretty". No context with any insights on how to approach building the wireframes to make it more user friendly, just "how would you change this and do it." Fine, I did it. Then I was asked about drawing NFTs. I guess in their minds, having the word 'designer' in your name is synonymous with being every type of designer because at one point I was also asked about interior design. Anyways, I digress. After that I was told to wait around because the boss wanted to talk to me. I waited almost 2 hours for this guy to talk to me! That should have been the first red flag that they don't value anyone's time. At first, I thought I must have really impressed them if they wanted me to talk to the boss right away then I started looking around. It was well after 6pm at this point...People were still here, no one left. That should have been a second indicator. FINALLY, he came out to talk to me. First question out of his mouth was asking me about my ethnicity and if I was an immigrant. He made me very uncomfortable. After my interview with him, they still made me wait another hour before making me an offer! When the offer was made, they made it VERY clear that I would NOT be getting a copy of my contract. I couldn't even take pictures of the contract to look over. Looking back, I should have seen all the red flags, they're all very clearly evident but I was just so excited to get hired, I chose to ignore them. A mistake I will not be making in the future as this was the worst place I've ever worked.

      Questions d'entretien [1]

      Question 1

How do you handle stress? How do you keep up with trends in the industry? How do you balance your life with work? (a question an employer shouldn't be asking a potential employee-none of your business what I do outside of work)
