I applied online on Instacart website, and got an email from a recruiter within few days to schedule a phone interview. The 45 min phone interview was with the same recruiter. It was a causal interview and he provided a background about Instacart as business and the design teams. He asked for a short overview of my portfolio and we ended with my questions about Instacart. After the interview, I sent him a thank you note for being an awesome interviewer. I really had an interesting conversation with him. Few highlights: - The recruiter was quick to reach out for the phone interview - He didn't make it formal by asking usual dreaded questions such as "tell me about yourself". This interview mainly to get a sense of why I want to work at Instacart and what do I know about the business, and if my skills are the right fit for the team. - When the recruiter reached out with a rejection email, he provided why they rejected me. I really appreciated this because it tells me why instead of "you'r not a good fit". This gives me an actionable goal to improve myself in upcoming interviews with other companies.
