      Entretien

From start to finish the process took roughly two months. It began with a phone screen, followed by a conversation with the hiring manager (to whom I spoke twice). After that I spoke to another seven people, each of whom ran the teams that this role partners with. Any employer has the right to hire the candidate it believes to be the best fit for a given role. What left a negative impression was the way the process was handled after I'd done everything that was asked of me and then some. After speaking to a total of nine people 10 times, providing a portfolio of my work, and being asked for three references, it took several weeks to learn that I didn't get the job. The recruiter with whom I worked is fantastic at what she does. Unfailingly professional and empathetic when delivering the bad news. I take no issue with her and hope that our paths cross again. But Millennium's process for checking professional references is abysmal. I was asked to provide between three references but wound up providing four ultimately because one of the first three didn't respond within a business day. Ultimately he provided a reference within three days, which is hardly unreasonable. After following up to find out if a decision had been made--never a good sign--I learned that the hiring manager wanted to follow up with one of my references--as he was the only one to whom I reported. I wasn't given any heads up that the hiring manager was most interested in speaking to managers I'd reported to but one would think that references from the president and senior vice president of a business with a national footprint, along with an additional reference and that of a past manager would give an indication of what I bring to the table. That's four references. The process took so long to play out that my wife asked several times if I was sure that I'd want to move forward if I'd received an offer. It turns out her question was moot. I wish Millennium and the candidate it hired instead of me all the best, and am not sharing this in an attempt to make the organization look bad. As someone who spent in excess of 10 hours going through Millennium's interview process, to say nothing of waiting for weeks--literally-- waiting for an update, I wouldn't wish this on anyone--notwithstanding the outcome. To be clear, no employer owes anyone a job. But Millennium's process left much to be desired. Anyone applying for a role there should be aware of how it can play out.

      Question 1

As you would expect, I was asked about my experience. There was an emphasis on SEO experience. I was also asked whom I respected most and why.

Thank you for your feedback. As this was a newly created role for Millennium Trust, we wanted to ensure we were diligent in the process. The pool of candidates for this role was very strong; therefore we took the proper time to assess and gather feedback. Given the critical nature of this role, the hiring decision took a little longer as we were being thoughtful in our decision making with the information available. Due to our extreme growth and limited resources at times, certain roles (especially critical and newly created) may require a longer process and additional information. Our hope is to continue to improve this process and make the experience more efficient for all parties as we grow and fill key roles. Ensuring we have the right people, processes and technology is always top of mind. We appreciate your feedback and look forward to greater things ahead. Our team would love the opportunity to connect with you and learn more. Please feel free to contact the Millennium Trust Human Resources Department so we can discuss further.
