Straight off the bat, there was confusion. I had been applying specifically for Social Media roles. From job searching I recognised the names Inside Ideas Group, OLIVER and ADJUST YOUR SET, but it wasn't very clear they were all together.
I received an email from OLIVER about a Digital Marketing Strategist role. It's not what I was looking for, but I do have the skills for it. I'm looking for a job to pay my bills, I won't be picky! Two separate invites came through for this call. One vaguely titled 'Digital Marketing Strategist' and the other 'Interview with Inside Ideas Group'. At this point, I didn't catch on who Inside Ideas Group were. The communication had been from OLIVER.
The person I spoke to for this 30 mins call was friendly, and took it in good humour that they actually thought they were interviewing me for another role! Performance Marketing Manager apparently.
Regardless of the role confusion, I made it clear I was happy to move forward, as I liked the vibe of this person I would be working with. I was put forward to chat with two more members of the team.
Due to the role confusion, the process was back to front for me. I had the technical conversation first, then the second one was about the company and the project plan.
I was confused (again!) to receive an automated rejection email a couple days after this second call, as they had seemed to like me so much the call had gone over the scheduled 30 mins; apparently making them late for their next call.
I didn't get any feedback, but by the sudden turn of one of their faces, I would guess it was my answer to "What intrigued you about this role?" I had explained at the start the role confusion saga, so was not impressed with this question. I didn't say it was my dream role at my dream company, let's put it that way!
