      Entretien

You would need to be extremely desperate to seriously consider this company, particularly the Perth office. The interview process is exceptionally disorganised, which is surprising given the firm positions itself as a consulting business. The process lacks structure, purpose, and any clear understanding of what it is actually trying to assess. The interview panel comes across as elitist yet underwhelming, with a noticeable effort to assert superiority rather than evaluate capability. The interview itself combines an Excel task with over an hour of unfocused questioning, ranging from geography trivia to personal hobbies. Yes, genuinely irrelevant topics. It is unclear how knowing the capital of Nigeria contributes to assessing someone’s ability to solve complex client problems. Excel testing is not an issue in principle, but expecting senior-level candidates (Senior Manager, Director, Associate Partner) to demonstrate hands-on spreadsheet work is misguided. These are delegation-level tasks, not leadership-level responsibilities. No top-tier firm evaluates senior hires this way, and this alone says a great deal about Infosys Portland and Infosys more broadly. The firm appears far more focused on operational output than strategic problem-solving or leadership capability. Overall, the process was a significant waste of time and strongly suggests the interviewers have received little to no training in leadership or professional interviewing. Infosys is rarely, if ever, mentioned in serious management consulting conversations—and there is a reason for that. If you are an experienced management consultant considering your next move, you would be far better served pursuing an industry role. Compensation will likely be higher, and the work far more aligned with your experience and value. For those attempting to “break into consulting,” this firm may create the illusion of entry into the field. However, it carries little weight with top-tier firms and can be a career-limiting move if your ambition is to build a long-term consulting career. While lateral moves are not impossible later on, they will be significantly harder, and you are likely to exit at a similar title level due to limited external recognition of the experience. In short: proceed with caution, and strongly consider alternative paths.
