The interview process at InfluxData is unlike most software companies. While the technical interviews do involve writing code, the questions are not the typical "whiteboard" style algorithmic questions. The questions are relevant to the job you will be doing!
I had 6 interviews with InfluxData before receiving an offer. All the interviews were over Zoom.
1. Interview with hiring manager: high level introductory interview
2. Technical Interview 1: Coding
3. Technical Interview 2: API design
4. Technical Interview 3: Coding
5. HR Interview: HR-like questions
6. Interview with VP: HR-like questions
Overall I actually enjoyed the interview process! Every individual I spoke to was kind and the interviews were fair. If I got stuck, the interviewer gladly offered help. My recruiter, Lefan Chi, did an excellent job scheduling the interviews around my work schedule.
When I was presented with an offer, Lefan called me to talk about the positive feedback I had received and to answer any questions I had about the company. I also had a conversation with the hiring manager about the offer. I was provided ample time to consider the offer.
Overall I enjoyed my interview experience. I think it gave me an accurate picture of the job I would be doing, the people I would be working with, and the process was smooth!

I was referred by a connection within the company and heard from Lefan (recruiting manager) 4 days later.
I'd reached the midpoint of interviewing at a few other companies by that stage, so I was worried about completing the process in time. Lefan did a great job pushing the process through quickly, scheduling both the eng. manager and tech lead screens within the week, and a 4-stage virtual onsite soon after that. Since I was under pressure from competing offers, I was given a "preview" offer verbally before the reference-check stage began so I'd know if it was worth pushing back on my other options.

The entire interview process was amazing! Very relaxed and everyone I interviewed with was very nice and respectful. Lefan, the recruiting manager, was amazing and super responsive throughout the whole process.
From the very beginning, I was guaging the culture at InfluxData and I am super excited to join now as the culture is a super match for me.

The interview process had no trick questions, and was not focused on traditional "coding tests". Even though there weren't coding tests, the interview process was still quite technical, we had in depth conversations about complicated technical situations.
The interviews were all pleasant and conversational.
