I was contacted by a recruiter in regards to a "sales and marketing position". The website was very vague and advertised itself as a "marketing firm". When I responded to the email I also asked for a job description, which was never sent. I received plenty of follow up emails regarding my interview, but none that answered my questions about what the job actually was. When I went in for my interview I was under the impression it was a one-on-one and it turned out to be a group interview with 2 other interviewees. This is an insurance broker job, all commission and you work from home making phone calls all day. One individual in my interview was so upset that he'd been misled as to what this job really was that he got up and left, informing the interviewer that he didn't appreciate him "wasting his time". The interview was very confusing and at the end the interviewer suddenly said "I'd like to welcome you to IPA family". I was shocked because, apart from glancing at my resume when I walked in, he hadn't asked me or the other interviewee ANY questions about our work history, what we were looking for etc. We basically sat in a room for 45 mins listening to a presentation about insurance and how much money the top earners made. All in all, I felt this was a confusing and negative experience by a company that severely misrepresents itself. The interview/presentation was scattered and unprofessional.
