Interview process involved Pymetrics assessment where the behavioral analysis of a candidate is performed. After this assessment, HR phone screen followed by 45 min interview with hiring manager and then team fit verification by the team for 45 min and a technical round of 30 minutes.
All the people in the interviews are really nice and not intimidating at all. All the interviews sounded more like discussions.
However, I felt the cons was related to the pay discussion in the whole process.
First of all, the salary range given in the job description didn't have an upper limit. So I applied for the job and luckily, there was a field in the job application asking for expected salary and I provided my expected salary.
In the initial HR phone screen, HR did mention that my quoted expected salary is little higher than what they were looking for that role. Alright, if that's the case why arrange for the next round interview with the candidate.
But he arranged for the interview and told me to bring up the pay topic with the hiring manager , which is a bit unusual for me. Still I managed to bring up the topic in my interview with the hiring manager and received the feedback that he didn't know why HR is asking me to talk to him about it!!
Hiring manager gave good feedback so, the HR called me again to schedule a time for next round, team fit verification. He also talked about my expected salary, and learnt that what I quoted in the application is the pay I am looking for, which is great.
Like this, all through the process HR knew how much I am expecting and how much that department has budget for. They don't match but I was still asked to take the interview. If my expected pay doesn't work for that role , that's fine but why don't you be open about it right at the beginning and go ahead with other candidates.
Overall, I felt the big company like IHS Markit could be more transparent about their salary range in their job description and avoid wasting their time, candidate's time. If the offer I was made after all the rounds had been set as the upper limit in the job description , then I wouldn't even have applied for this job.
