      Entretien

Interview and hiring process is lengthy. Took almost 2 months from the time I applied to hear back their final decision. The process was broken down into 4 stages. First stage of the interview process after you have applied is filling out a questionnaire of customer service related questions. If they like your answers they will move you forward to the interview screening. The second stage is a 30 minute phone conversation with an HR rep. The interview was not that difficult and they gave you information about the company and what the training process would be like. The interview turned into a pleasant conversation and the HR rep seemed very nice. I made it past this stage and was asked to do a 2 hour video interview. This was by far the most draining out of the 4 stages. I interviewed with 4 different people at 30 minutes each. Most of the interviewers asked the same questions or worded them slightly different. All of the people I met were quite pleasant except for one who seemed very cold and "snobby" if you will. I was told during my interview that I would be moving to the "bottom of the food chain" doing customer support, given my current field of work. This raised some questions for me as I thought "how does this person really feel then about their TSA's?". It was an odd comment and question for someone who is conducting an interview. I was then put through to the final stage. This was the most difficult interview out of the 4. This interview was 30 minutes with the head of support. Her questions were overall vague and indirect and pressure sensitive. Within the first 5 minutes of interviewing with her I knew she had already made her decision. She seemed uninterested for the most part and quite monotone. Overall the people over at Hopper were pretty nice, minus the couple I encountered. I kept in correspondence with the HR rep via email and she kept telling me throughout the process that "everyone really enjoyed talking with you and liked conversing with you" giving me hope that I was going to land the job. I have read that not many people make it past the initial screening or the 2 hour interview, so landing the 4th interview in my eyes was a really good sign. I have a very diverse background and tons of customer service experience. Why I didn't get the job is unknown at this time. I assume the position is very competitive or they are very picky at who they choose. I have read past reviews that the company is extremely selective even though they claim to hire people with "raw talent" and "diverse backgrounds". I also put a lot of time and effort into this interview. I took close to 4 hours off work just to go through these interviews and studied for quite some time. It is unclear to me as to what they want from their future employees. I asked why I did not land the job but I never received a response back. It would have been nice to have some feedback.

Applied in January. Was contacted immediately and asked to complete a take home assignment. After this was reviewed, I was asked to set up a phone interview. The recruiter was friendly and pleasant and increased my excitement for the position. Then, a 2 hour remote interview was scheduled with four different people (30 minutes each). All asked similar questions but had different styles. All were unique and friendly to talk to. Some of the questions were quite difficult, when factoring in 2 hours of interview questions. It seemed to be a pressure based interview. I thought I did extremely well as I had practiced and prepared. I really thought I would have been offered the job, however, I received notice 2 days later that they were not able to offer me the position. I don’t think I’ve ever been more excited about a position, as I was truly passionate about it. It is disappointing when you know how how dedicated you would have been. However, only Hopper knows what exactly it’s looking for in an employee and I didn’t fit the bill. My advice to Hopper; be more forthcoming about what you are looking for in an employee (personality wise). Otherwise, you will waste time of management and potential employees conducting interviews that will result in nothing.
