I was contacted by the company's HR and invited to interview for a mid-level marketing role. The 1st round was quick and straightforward. The 2nd round was with a senior marketing team member based in Germany. Overall, I found my interview with the HR coordinator pleasant and dynamic. My interview with the senior marketing team member, who (based on his LinkedIn profile) seemed somewhat inexperienced for the level of the job he holds, was unpleasant, curt and a bit adversarial. He seemed unprepared and was asking me very basic questions and concepts with an attitude of someone who had a great academic and consulting background, but never came up through the marketing ranks and therefore has a bit of a 'theoretical', rather than practical knowledge of CPG. By the time we ended our discussion I think we both were eager to hang up. I wish them well, but definitely don't see myself in their culture despite having worked with start-ups in the past.
