Telephone interview. Very easy. I had sent my CV in through the corporate website, and followed up with phone calls to the Aberdeen office, and emails. It helped that I had a friend already working within the company to act as a reference for me. They accepted me provisionally on the basis of my CV and certification, subject to telephone interview. I got the feeling that the interview followed a prepared format. Basically a checklist. Basic questions about your experience that any deck officer should be able to describe with ease. But make sure you elaborate on your answers, as the girls in HR conduct the interview for junior officers, and they are not as familiar with marine ops. You have to spell it out. An ex master or CEng may interview you for senior officers. Masters and CEng usually come to the office for a meeting, and will usually be assessed on board. All permanent employees start on a 6 to 8 month probationary period, after which time a performance review is done. No problem if you stay sober, and work properly.
