Steps:
1. Recruiter call -> Generic call to discuss the company, role, and your skill set. In the end, was also asked about the expected salary.
2. 30 mins call with QA Lead -> Insightful call with Lead to discuss role and expectation in detail. Lead explained the QA roadmap in the company, what they are doing and where they want to take it further by end of the year.
3. Home test -> They sent me a home test to automate Grover mobile application scenarios using Appium/Java. I scanned through the test and found the test too exhaustive. They have asked to automate various sections of the app like login, search for product, sorting, add to cart, filtering, language selection, navigation, etc. I felt if I complete this test I'm already automating 80% of smoke tests for their application. You can now estimate how big the task was.
Meanwhile, I also got an offer from another company hence I decided to not continue with Grover this time.
Overall I had a very good impression of the company and their working but really would suggest them to trim down their home test a lot. You just need to ask candidates the bare minimum which will help you to evaluate their skills.
