      J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 2 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien chez Greenhouse Software (New York, NY) en juin 2015

      Entretien

      I applied online a recruiter reached out within a week to set up a phone screen. We had a phone call later that day. It was very easy, the questions where very basic mostly review my resume, and asking how and why I wanted to work at greenhouse. The interview was very conversational and pretty easy. I felt that I did a pretty good job and that we built good rapport, I closed the interview by asking point blank if I passed. He said yes, gave it a chuckle and said "I'll forward my notes and recommendation to the hiring team" and to expect follow up next week. A couple weeks went bye and despite reaching out, no response. Finally a little after 2 weeks later, I get a generic thanks but no thanks email. I responded to the recruiter to ask what I could have done better or what I may be able to improve on (skills etc.) if I want to apply later should the job come back again down the line. No response. This is the part of the interview that really bothered me. I clearly told I passed the phone screen but later was rejected for an interview with the hiring team. If you read the greehouse blog, they are huge about honest feedback, right away. They go in depth to tell companies to treat candidates with fairness and respect, be prompt, keep them informed and to remember it's a hard time in their lives. This is what made me apply in the first place, sure my experience matched up, having worked in HR, Recruiting and even selling a competing software, but their blog and their advocacy for candidates is what made them so cool to me. The recruiter even brought it up on our call. So I thought I would get an answer, a prompt response and not be treated like a name on a stack of resumes, guess they don't practice what they preach. Disappointing.

      Hi there. Thanks for your feedback and first of all, sorry to hear you had a poor experience interviewing here. As you (correctly) point out, we take interviewing very seriously at Greenhouse and try very hard to treat everyone respectfully, courteously, fairly, and honestly. It sounds like there were a number of breakdowns of this expectation in your case. For one, being told you passed the interview when clearly there had not been a decision to move ahead with you, was an unfair and inappropriate way to handle the situation. Then as you stated, the failure to respond to your inquiries further exacerbated things. I'm not surprised at all that this behavior concerned and frustrated you. We definitely can't always live up to our own high expectations and it sounds like in this case we failed to do so. I have reviewed your comments with the recruiting team and we all understand what we need to do better in the future. Once again, sorry for the stress and consternation this experience has caused you, and thanks for making the effort to let us know about it. It's how we learn & improve.
