      Entretien

      Received an email from a recruiting coordinator then had a phone call with the recruiter. Next step was a phone call with the hiring manager, then a take home exercise. My calls with the recruiter and hiring manager were wonderful and we really connected. The take home exercise was “intentionally vague” and asked for a specific problem to be solved. I submitted the exercise answering the questions asked and with a resolution for the problem but it turns out they were looking for something other than the resolution I provided. The exercise is a disqualification tool and I did not proceed in the interview process. Overall I found the process disappointing and think too much weight is put on a fictional, vague written assignment as it doesn’t effectively demonstrate the talent or fit of the candidate.

      Hello - I'm Jacqui, the Director of Talent Acquisition here at Greenhouse. First, thank you for taking the time to provide us with this feedback! And I'm really glad to hear that your calls with the recruiter and hiring manager went well. Additionally, I appreciate the feedback on our take home assignment stage. We very often have this type of an assignment as a part of our process to: (1) give candidates a glimpse into what the role will entail, and (2) allow us to see a sample work product. Given that this does also act as a filter in moving forward in the interview process, we try to give candidates feedback on our decision whether to continue forward with the process.
