I was referred in to gong through a mutual connection and had a informal, get-to-know you phone interview first which went well. A week later I was asked to come in for an on-site interview with one of the sales managers. I checked with their WeWork office person but after 20 minutes went by and I emailed the recruiter to let her know I was still in the lobby. Five minutes later the VP of Sales showed up instead. My interview was scheduled for 45 mins and at this point I had 15 mins. Fortunately both of us had an extra 15 mins. And fortunately for me I had done my research on this individual so I was a bit more prepared but it still made for an uneven conversation as a result of the late start and some anxiety. At the end of our time, I was then surprised to see the sales manager I was originally scheduled to meet with standing outside the room. This made for an awkward situation as I had another interview elsewhere. Considering the arms race for talent in the bay area this left a really bad impression.

Wow — sounds super awkward and I imagine I would have been left with the same bad impression — our apologies for that experience. You'll be happy to hear that we have our own office now — so if you ever revisit an opportunity at Gong — you can expect timely professionalism, an internal talent team of warm smiles, and lots of puppy love from Doug (our office golden retriever)! Regardless though — apologies again and we look forward to making you a raving candidate one day : ) Appreciative of your insights, Eric Lindroos

The first interview is with HR then you will interview with the hiring manager. After the interview with the hiring manager you would interview with the VP of sales. If that goes well you will then have to do a mock discovery call and you will be graded and if that goes well and offer.

Interview process was organized and well thought out. Meetings were coordinated around my schedule and most were brief and to the point. The only drawback was the lack of feedback during the process. Even after deciding to go a different direction (after the final interview), I didn't recieve any helpful criticism when the recruiter called. I did appreciate the personal touch of the recruiter calling me vs. just a generic email.

Horrible process from the jump. Recruiter sent wrong dates and times to interview with the hiring manager. Hiring manager couldn’t answer who their ideal customer profile was as they scale into enterprise, and they mainly focused on culture related questions. In my THIRD round, my interviewer was clearly disengaged and working while asking me questions like “what do you want to get out of this today”. The ultimate feedback was that I didn’t seem “excited” and didn’t like my “hopping around”. If you didn’t feel I was a strong candidate due to my resume don’t take three rounds to figure that out and come prepared with questions that will address your concerns. Amateur hour to say the very least.

I appreciate you bringing this to our attention so we can continue to improve our candidate experience. It sounds like you met with our newest hiring manager who is still learning our ICP for Enterprise. We strive for a structured interview process for each role that focuses on the core competencies for the role and it sounds like that wasn’t the case here. Thank you again for your feedback.
