      Candidature

J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 3 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien chez Golden State Assembly (Morgan Hill, CA) en nov. 2025

      Entretien

The interview process started off as any other with an initial phone screening that led to an on-site with the site director at their GSA site in Morgan Hill CA. During the conversation a few things struck me one being that the director stated he grew up in Richmond CA which he then he referred to himself as a “wigger” maybe to appeal to me more so because I’m African American. He also said he was from the era of interracial relationships and that his “generation started all of that.” Again he may have been trying to make me feel comfortable but it was strange that my race had to be brought into the fold. I should have known then that this wasn’t the place for me but I foolishly pressed on. I was asked back for a 3rd interview with the manufacturing manager. He was 15mim late because their ERP had crashed which was alarming because it was down during my first on-site interview as well. The interview went well and I happened to be there during a time that one of the recruiters I hadn’t interacted with was there (Noel). He pulled me aside and asked me what I looking for salary wise? I told him no lower than 120k and he said he was aiming to get me 130k. We exchanged numbers and he proceeded to call me throughout that weekend to readjust the salary aspiration from 120k to 130k which I was fine with. The following Monday I was asked to attend a last minute interview now my 4th with the HR director. I thought because of the timing and impromptus nature of the circumstance this would be more casual. Nope, (Kristi) the HR director proceeded to gently grill me and almost undermined my resume. I answered her questions and then she proceeded to read me the result of 1 of 2 online assessment tests. She said they don’t use the test to determine employment but then told me what vulnerabilities the test displayed. I told her I was answering questions about myself I wouldn’t normally answer due to my humility. We wrapped up the interview with her saying I’d essentially exceeded her expectations, whatever that meant. I rushed to complete the second test because she reminded me one hadn’t been completed and that it was confusing because they emails are sent separately and different times. I rushed through the assessment but you’re only given 12 minutes to complete and I hadn’t finished in time and the test closed out with a 54% completion (candidates beware). By the time the offer was provided I’d been called twice by the original recruiter. She was gauging what I’d be okay with while trying to establish a verbal commitment with me without anything being signed. I was finally officially offered via digital document 110k with a stipulation of an early assessment to determine if I deserved more in 120 days. I countered at 115k stating my uncertainty with the companies ability to justify an increase in Q1-Q2 based on previous experience with other organizations. They responded by pulling the offer entirely closing out the opportunity. Almost like an emotional reaction to my stance on self worth when performing a very common negotiation practice in the industry. Fait will always see to it that what’s meant to be will be. I couldn’t be more pleased that I didn’t become immersed in the disorganized and professional dissonance that was painfully obvious during the two weeks this group wasted my efforts.
