I applied online and received an invitation for a phone interview a few days later. Phone interview lasted around 10 minutes and was pretty straightforward. Asked about salary expectations and why you want to work for the company.

First telephone screening- 6 minutes long when I was informed it would last 15-20 minutes. Not an actual interview, was only asked 3 questions that were included in the application form I had submitted. Very unprofessional first impression.

      Entretien

A recruiter from within the company hunted me down on linkedin, sent me some document full of buzzwords vaguely describing the company and role. An initial screening call was arranged. They called me half an hour earlier than agreed upon. During the call I made it very clear that my PhD was a Life Science PhD, that I didn't know finance, investment or the healthcare market, at which point I was assured that didn't matter, that they'd teach me what I needed to know and only enthusiasm to learn mattered. They didn't really answer my questions about what a day on the job would be like or why on earth you need a PhD for a job that sounds like you're essentially cold-calling experts and trying to get them into the GLG network. At no point was I asked about my past experience, or any questions at all that would tell them anything about me. To my surprise they immediately asked me to come in for an interview early the following week. I agreed, because why not, I might learn something new there. Nope! I arrived at the offices, was led into a meeting room and abandoned there for over 20 minutes. 15 minutes after my interview was supposed to have started the first interviewer finally shows up. She talked a mile a minute, was incredibly rude, and the questions she asked me were very aggressive and strange. There was no attempt made to have a conversation, she didn't slow down for second and clearly didn't want to be there. She didn't rephrase her questions when I tried to clarify. Even though they had agreed that I didn't need to know stocks and finance beforehand I was only asked stock market questions. She ended the interview after approximately two minutes after asking me what sort of team dynamic I worked in at the moment (I explained that I was doing my PhD, that's pretty much a solo project no matter what subject matter you work in. They should really know that, given that they only want to recruit people with PhDs... still no clue why), what negative feedback I had received previously (what the hell kind of question is that) and what sort of personalities I gravitate towards and want to work with (I'm interviewing for an entry level job in your company and you refused to even let me meet anyone currently in the position I'm interviewing for, I don't really have a say in who I wanna work with, do I?) Overall it was a complete waste of my time. I have no idea why they would invite me given that they didn't seem to care about my background at all, and were clearly not interested in bringing me up to speed on the public equity sector they wanted me to work in. Very rude interview, shockingly so, actually. Then after less than five minutes I was abandoned in that conference room again and told to wait for someone to show me out. No one showed up for ten minutes. I finally had to find my own way out. I've never had a comparable experience before, or had my time wasted in such a blatant manner. I thought the glassdoor reviews were exaggerated, but no, this company is actually that bad.

      Questions d'entretien [1]

      Question 1

What personality types do you have trouble working with? What sort of people do you gravitate towards? What do you think influences our clients? What do you want to learn at GLG? What was some negative feedback you've received about your work before? What sort of dynamic do you like to work in? What dynamic are you working in now?
