      Entretien

I emailed a cover letter and resume and got a call for an interview about two weeks later. My first interview went great. That same day they called me back for a final interview where I would be interviewed by 3 attorneys instead of 1. They wanted me to come back that same week, but I couldn't swing two missed days of work. In addition, there was a written test I had to complete in advance. It involved reading through a document and copy-editing it. This was very poorly administered. First of all the legal asst. who was supposed to send me the test forgot and I wasted an evening just waiting for her to send it. Then when we rescheduled and she sent me the test, I realized that I didn't have the right word processing program to do track changes (they didn't specify anything about the test, for all I knew, it was going to be something on the web). This was a timed test and I had to stop and download a program that would work (I have a mac). Before that I tried using my old PC, but it overheated within 10 minutes. It was a mess and I was unfortunately flustered by all the problems I kept running into, as well as the time ticking away. I didn't do well. At my next interview, I told them what happened - that I didn't receive any information about what software would be required (which would have been very simple for them to do) and that it affected my performance, but it didn't feel like they were that receptive. At the second interview, I was interviewed by 2 new attorneys and the attorney who interviewed me first. They asked the same questions and it threw me off (now I know this is normal). I could tell it wasn't going well because the two attorneys I had never met before were glancing at each other a lot. Plus I had done terribly on the written test. After the interview, they gave me a tour of the place, which was confusing because I knew it hadn't gone well. I followed up with thank you cards and had to inquire myself a few weeks later about the position. They finally wrote me back saying I didn't get the position.
