      Entretien

I went through an extensive interview process with Copy.ai, and unfortunately, it was one of the most disorganized hiring experiences I’ve encountered. Interview Process: I initially applied months ago, was invited to interview, and then had my interview canceled at the last minute because the role was "filled." I reapplied later and passed multiple rounds, including the recruiter screen, hiring manager interview, and a deep dive with a current solutions engineer. I was then invited to the final on-site interview, which required me to take PTO, only to be told afterward that they wanted me to step back and re-interview for a different role (pre-sales instead of post-sales). Final Interview Issue: The pre-sales interview was unstructured and consisted of only 2–3 questions before I was asked to carry the rest of the conversation with my questions. The interviewer was clearly disengaged and uninterested from the start of the call, and his desire to quickly move to me asking him questions seemed deliberate and bizarre since I had already spoken to multiple people by this point, and the call was meant to "vet" me for pre-sales. Days later, I was rejected via email, despite never getting a real opportunity to demonstrate my skills for the role. Key Issues with Copy.ai’s Hiring Process: Disorganized & Poor Communication: Constant changes in direction, last-minute cancellations, and unclear expectations. Lack of Structured Evaluation: The Final decision was based on a short, disengaged interview rather than a fair, thorough assessment. Disregard for Candidate’s Time: I took PTO for a final interview that never actually happened in the way it was initially framed. If you’re considering applying, be prepared for a lack of transparency and shifting expectations. I expected a more structured and respectful process, especially for a senior-level role. I would not recommend this company unless they drastically improve how they treat candidates.

      Entretien

An unnamed employee reached out to me via LinkedIn, initiating an initial 10-minute call to discuss a potential role. During our conversation, I couldn’t help but notice that this mysterious contact might have been under the influence of something—perhaps even cocaine. Despite my reservations, I decided to proceed with the interview process, curious to learn more. I engaged in interviews with several GTM team members. A group call was part of the process. Unfortunately, the final interview with the founders never materialized; they simply no-showed. This lack of follow-through left me puzzled and disappointed. Team structure became a point of contention. One person hinted they were getting a promotion to a Director role, while the person in that existing director role insisted on an external hire for a similar position. This discrepancy raised serious concerns about internal communication within the company. The actual role itself remained elusive. Two people I interviewed with claimed past experience as Sales Engineers, yet their understanding of the role seemed limited. When I sought clarity on the technical aspects, they fumbled to provide coherent answers. Inquiring about the 30/60/90 onboarding plan, I appreciated their transparency regarding the lack of processes and structured onboarding. They made it clear that I’d need to be flexible in navigating this uncharted territory. Regrettably, I never received any follow-up communication from the recruiter after the founders’ no-show. While I suspected that a decision had been made, a brief email acknowledging the outcome would have been professional and courteous. In the end, I’m relieved that the opportunity didn’t materialize. My observations of a manipulative culture and the constant negative discussions on LinkedIn (thanks to my following of copy.ai) reinforced my conviction. Moreover, the CMO on LinkedIn exhibited clear signs of being a bigot.
