I was initially contacted by Foseco to interview for a Lean Engineer position. I applied for the position, and following a phone screen, I was asked to come in for an on-site interview. I interviewed with the site manager, facilities manager, and production manager. The site was at the beginning of a major layoff, and as lean engineer, I would be responsible for driving further efficiency and cost savings.
The day after my interview, the production manager called to say that a second position had opened with their team for process engineer, and they thought it might be a good fit. We met for lunch to discuss the new role, and I agreed. Two days later, I received an offer. I requested a tour of the production floor, which I had not seen during the interview process. This was arranged the following day.
After reviewing the offer and benefits, I called to negotiate an increase in salary. The next day I received a short email saying that my offer had been rescinded. When I called to clarify, I was reread the contents of the email.
