Great phone call with someone from HR, asked some pretty general questions and we had a nice chat. Questions felt like they were aimed at reducing bias.
Next step was a portfolio review with the head of product and a design consultant. The questions and amount of scrutiny was intense.
Aside from portfolio review, did a couple activities. One was to list out a series of fields under the UI/UX umbrella in their order of importance. The other was to show a favorite product of mine and explain what the product is doing “right”.
Overall it was an okay experience. The interview was an hour and a half and I think towards the end it was pretty clear that they had a list of priorities in the ideal candidate that just weren’t really communicated in the job listing or initial phone call. I don’t think it would have been a good fit from either end.
