J'ai passé un entretien chez Five Guys

      Entretien

The interview was fine, however, after that I got a call explaining that I passed the interview and had a trial shift to see if I like the job. Therefore, I got the impression that I got the job (so I didn’t go to another interview which I got offered). I went to the trial shift; which was three hours of my time. In this shift I had to get trained on each section in the kitchen and on shop floor. During this shift, it got busy and I got left alone to start taking preparing orders. The worker who was by me, seemed annoyed at me for being confused when I had just started. She wasn’t any help at all. It turns out that as soon as you walk into five guys, COVID disappears! No measures were taken to make sure that the staff were safe. I didn’t get any check to make sure that I was safe either. This not only put my safety at risk but also the workers. No masks were worn, even in the staff room. The only form of safety taken place was that they wore gloves. This is crazy to me. I felt on edge as there was also no distancing measures. Once I was getting ready to leave, I asked if they needed my passport, national insurance and card details and they said no. This made me realise that those hours were unpaid and I was just used for free labour. I haven’t had a callback since the shift also. This was a waste of my time and the workers who had to train me time. I was appalled by the lack of professionalism within the workplace. It was not a safe environment nor did they seem to care. I felt vulnerable while being there and there was no opportunity for me to keep my distance. Even so, they should be following guidelines anyway, due to coronavirus and the safety of staff and customers. There was a lack of communication, I got told I had the job and then discovered it was part of the interview. I didn’t even get asked for proof of ID. I am worried that they’re using people to work hours for them for free to intentionally not call them back. Surely this is not legal.
