I was initially contacted by a recruiter who told me about the job role and felt that my skills matched. I was initially really interested in the opportunity so I applied.
I had an interview with two senior consultants who explained the role in more depth and asked me a series of questions to see if I was matched to the role. They were both really friendly and answered any questions I had. However, as I learnt more about the role a lot was required for an entry level job. Being the only designer at the company the job role included, videography, animation, branding, presentation design, social media management & website upkeep.
I was put through to the next stage to complete a creative task which was a powerpoint presentation in their branding and an edited video of their summer party. As I felt like the role was more demanding with jobs that usually would be stand alone roles, coupled with the commute I needed to know the salary expectation.
I contacted the recruiter to get clarification on the salary and it was a lot lower than I expected. I explained why I felt like it was worth a higher pay and I felt like the recruiter was really understanding of the situation. He said that he would arrange a meeting with the marketing manager to explain the role in more depth as it was a role for a designer early in their career. I was keen for this meeting to take place as I didn't want to disregard the opportunity, only understand it better. However I was never contacted again and I have seen the job has been reposted and reworded with the salary displayed.
I'm left feeling disappointed at the time and effort I had spent going through the process and completing half of the creative task. I think that its disrespectful to me as a candidate and comes across quite shady.
