I made it to the final round interview and I had a very positive experience during the interview process. People are super friendly and the culture is good.
But as soon as I heard that they routinely work 15-18 hours a day I checked out. I'm sorry but thats ridiculous. Whether you're working 18 hours at home or in the office doesnt really matter to me. Its a credit union. They arent in the business of curing cancer or putting humans in space, its not that deep. When I interviewed with the CFO she tried to convince me that she doesnt condone late hours. But actions speak louder than words. And as an individual with a position of power to influence the culture and prevent this from happening, lack of action makes you complicit.
Regardless I had already been offered a role as a Database Engineer at another company that I feel was a better fit.
Taking this into consideration, if you can handle 15-18 hour days (on salary) and are willing to give it a shot you should. I think the people are well meaning.
