I attended an interview with Feral Interactive for a QA position. Everyone on the QA team was lovely, no complaints there. However, many aspects of the experience were incredibly unprofessional.
They rescheduled my interview about a week before the initial agreed date, nearly a month after it had been organised, and after I had already booked travel and a hotel. This put me back by over £100, however I was offered no additional compensation, only the standard £50 towards travel. Thus, my interview ended up costing me about £200, given I had to book travel and hotels twice. The interview consisted of a practical test, taking a total of around 5 hours, and then two interviews, one with the QA lead and one with the owner of the company.
My interview with the owner was mostly focused on probing into my personal life to an invasive degree; It felt more like an interrogation. He was insistent on knowing the exact dates and refused to believe me when I explained what I had done during my gap year. I was applying for medical school and working retail, but since that left a few months unaccounted for, he wouldn't let it go, even after I was dealing with difficult personal issues. Maybe I should have had a stronger backbone, but I had to explain that my dad had been diagnosed with cancer at the time. I didn't go into detail explaining how I was a carer for both my parents, because at that point I was very uncomfortable and did not want to share such personal information with this man.
Halfway through my interview with the director he had to go to a meeting, and said he'd continue the interview after, I was left to sit alone in his office for half an hour, waiting for him to come back and finish the interview. Not only was this incredibly unprofessional behaviour, he was generally rude and patronizing. This company has no respect for your time, energy, or money.
