      Entretien pour Assistant Manager

      26 mars 2018
      Candidat à l'entretien anonyme
      New York, NY
      Aucune offre
      Expérience négative
      Entretien facile

      Candidature

J'ai postulé via une autre source. Le processus a pris 5 mois. J'ai passé un entretien chez Everlane (New York, NY) en oct. 2017

      Entretien

The interview process was long and drawn out, for what I believe was an unnecessarily long amount of time, about 4-5 months. Again - this role was for an Assistant Manager, not the CEO, not the VP, but an Assistant Manager role - not to take away from the responsibilities, but from my experience should not take any longer than a month to fill, at most. With that said, I was approached and scheduled a first interview. My interviewer was 20 minutes late and seemed distracted the entire time, with their eyes wondering off, unable to finish sentences or questions, and blaming it all on a busy day. As many people have reviewed, at times it seemed like they were fishing on what to do and how to run their business properly - as the company is still very junior at running a retail store - and has a trial and error approach to things. I quickly moved on to a second phone interview, as the person was located in SF. We scheduled the interview the start of the following week, with a pretty basic interview - questions like my background, why I want to work for the company, where do I see myself in 5 years, etc. I was then e-mailed that the following week they would reach out with another e-mail in regards to FINAL STEPS. 2. Months. Went. By. Within the first two weeks, I did the proper follow up e-mails, first thanking them for the interview, and then following up on the status of my application. I even sent an e-mail congratulating them on their NYC store opening. Nothing. Another month had gone by, when I received an e-mail apologizing for "things being so hectic" and they would love for me to come and check out the new store and meet more people. I interviewed twice in one week. To have another month go by, and a 5th interview scheduled to meet more members of the team. Again, the interview process lasted about 4-5 months, with 5 interviews all together. And at the end of it all, I was sent an e-mail stating "thanks, but we're going with other candidates." No feed back was given when asked. I mean, the rate they reply, it could be another month or two before I get that. Yes - they sell pretty nice items. But this company will not last long with the higher ups they have in place that are clearly unsuitable for their role. From the people I've met, who are running the store, are simply amazing people with great experiences and backgrounds. It's unfortunate to be tainted by those running the interview, recruiting, and corporate aspect. Everyone is on board with the "trial and error" approach, but it unfortunately just comes off more like the blind leading the blind vs. trying to be innovative. Ironically, a company who states they are known for their "radical transparency," lack in any form of follow up, communication, or simple common courtesy. If you gain anything from the interview process alone, it's you should just avoid working for this company. Please read the other reviews, as they are pretty much on the same page. As well, I know a handful of people who have interviewed with, and also experienced a negative process.

      Entretien

I applied on a Sunday and was called in for an interview the following Sunday. They are very big on transparency as a brand, so they actually leave manager meeting room doors propped open for all to hear.
