I received an email asking for my availability to schedule a first round behavioral interview which hadn't been updated from the templated version. Whoops - in retrospect this should have been a red flag. After correcting the email that contained "XX minute call with, TITLE our ROLE" to the proper duration and role I applied for, I was scheduled in for a chat with the hiring manager.
The first round behavioral interview was pretty standard and I was invited to complete a case assessment. The assessment was assigned on Friday afternoon and I was given until Sunday evening to complete it. No problem, I wasn't planning to enjoy my weekend anyway.
I completed the assignment (which took somewhere in the range of 5-6 hours) and submitted it before the deadline. Over a week later I received a generic email saying that they have decided to proceed with a different candidate.
I can understand receiving something generic after a phone screen or a first round interview, but not after committing my weekend to completing an assessment. Requests for specific feedback were only met with more generic fluff. This just shows a blatant disrespect for candidates' time - if you're not prepared to offer feedback then don't require your candidates to complete an assessment. Do better, Ethos.
