      Entretien

I have applied directly on Ericsson website. After a week a person from HR contacted me to do a translation test and telling me that we needed to arrange a specific time because the test was under timed conditions (90 minutes). Before moving forward to the test, she told me that I had to agree that my salary expectations were aligned with the benchmark for the role, which it was 20K. I agreed to that and we booked the test for the day after. I did my translation test, it was pretty easy for me, since I have been working as a freelance translator for quite some time. I then returned my test after the agreed 90 minutes (even 10 minutes before), but before then, I made sure it was spotless, with no spelling or grammar mistakes, of course The HR lady replied to me the day after, that they had received the test and telling me that they would have let me know after the team (which team?) had reviewed it. This was during the Easter week. After not hearing from them for more than a week I wrote the HR lady to know about my test. She replied to me that lots of people were still on holiday after Easter and she would have let me know soon. Nothing for another week and a half and I wrote her again to know what happened to my test. She replied to me the day after with one of that no-reply email, saying basically that after careful consideration, they regretted to inform me that I haven't been selected for that position. I then asked for personal feedback, she replied to me that my test was not successful, the tests were scored on accurate translation, spelling mistakes, punctuation and choice of words. she could only suggest that I had to prepare better and maybe complete a few exercises ahead of time should I apply to a position where there is a written test involved. I was literally shocked. First, this is not a personal feedback, she just explained to me the system they use to correct test, which is the base to correct or proofread any translation or writing piece. They didn't have any tact and it seemed to me that this HR lady was questioning my way of translating or writing into my own native language. I wanted to know what mistakes I made, but they never tell you the truth of things, that basically the style may be personal and the person wo read it didn't like my writing. I am so fed up with this way of recruiting, I expected something more serious from a big company such as Ericsson, since it provides business worldwide.
