      Entretien

I did not feel like I ever had an opportunity to seriously interview for the role. It felt like I was a box on a checklist that had to be completed, and the overall process was confusing and felt rushed. Recruiter experience: I was contacted on a Monday for a Wednesday interview while in the middle of taking finals as a law student. Once scheduled, right before the interview, my recruiter reached out to me and let me know that the interviewing attorney could not make our schedule time and needed to move the meeting to a later time. I responded and said "ok, I understand. I'll keep an eye out for an updated time." Two hours later, she reached out to me and let me know that the attorney had availability "in the next hour" or "after 5pm". I agreed to the "in the next hour" time slot. I got dressed again and hopped on the call and waited for 30 mins in the zoom room before reaching back out to the recruiter to ask if we needed to reschedule again. Two more hours went by and she responded and let me know that she had to step away for an emergency and that only "after 5pm" was now available. I agreed to the after 5pm time slot and responded, "I'm sorry, my wording was confusing, the attorney is free after 6:00pm." I then agreed to a 6:15pm time slot. The attorney experience: Once in the interview, the attorney had his dog in the room, which was a distraction, he was dressed in a t-shirt, and generally seemed uninterested in what I had to say. I was a bit disappointed. A couple of days later, I sent a thank you letter to both the recruiter and the attorney, thanking them for their time and consideration. the next day (Saturday), I got a denial letter. I emailed the recruiter and the attorney to ask for feedback. After a couple of days, and as a last ditch effort to get some feedback on bettering myself as a candidate moving forward, I reached out again. I still have not heard back. I had an eerie feeling that this interview was not given in good faith, I do not believe my candidacy was taken seriously and I was highly disappointed by the entire process. Candidates spend a great deal of time preparing for interviews, especially legal candidates, and the least the company can do is exhibit professionalism at all stages of a prospects candidacy and provide a serious opportunity to interview.
