I’m truly flummoxed reading the glowing reviews for this ageist company. Although I was not hired for the position I applied for, my interview goes down as the most horrific interview in history.
As a member of the “mature” demographic, and re-entering the workforce, the skills that I utilized over the years were excellent.
I was really excited about interviewing because the company just opened a location in Berwyn and seems like a wonderful opportunity.
Upon entering the office of the woman who interviewed me, I had a hunch things would not go well. Why? She frowned upon seeing I was not the youthful woman she had in mind.
Wait. It gets worse.
She proceeded to pontificate her self-importance. Then she did the most vile, rude and disrespectful action. She opened her laptop and continued the interview working on her computer. Her excuse? “my boss is busy.” I swear I cannot make this up!
The second I left the building, I made a call to the staffing company that sent me to this horrible woman. I can only hope that woman is no longer there.
Diversity means hiring ALL kinds of people—even older ones. Not all of us can retire.
