      Candidature

J'ai postulé via un recruteur. J'ai passé un entretien chez Dreamr (Manchester, Angleterre)

      Entretien

Initial video chat with their HR person who was lovely, followed by interview at their Manchester office with said HR person, head of development and another iOS developer. Everyone was dressed casually so I felt uncomfortable in a suit and tie. I'd expected an opportunity to talk more about and show off the work I'd previously done, answer questions about how or why I'd built things in a certain way etc. but instead the interview largely revolved around answering technical questions about the Swift language and getting me to list frameworks and design patterns. They didn't really want to divulge any details of the kind of projects that they were working on except in the vaguest terms - I'd have been happy to sign an NDA. I got the impression they were looking for experience with a specific set of technologies that weren't really spelled out in the job description. I was invited to see the office space they work in, which was small and cramped with the entire team working elbow to elbow in a single room. All the photography on their website shows their team members chilling or working in large open areas which turned out to be communal spaces in the building shared by multiple companies. They had little interest in allowing remote working which was also disappointing given how cramped the office seemed.

      Questions d'entretien [1]

      Question 1

Give examples of value and reference types in Swift. Give examples of iOS frameworks. What design patterns do you know about?

Hey, thanks for the review. You raise a few points, which I'd like to answer. We always tell prospective candidates and our chosen recruitment agencies to let you know to come wearing whatever you feel comfortable in, so I'm guessing possibly that message didn't reach you. Good suggestion about the NDA so we can share a little more about the exciting projects we're working on. It's my understanding that the tech experience we need is in fact on the job ad - not sure whether you got chance to see this from the recruiter? Office space wise, we've grown pretty quickly, and we're actually looking to move in the New Year - the team loves to max its use of the communal space though - it's really sociable, as well as great for meetings and working. Remote working wise, we do have a remote working policy, which the team does use on occasion, though generally the team enjoy working together onsite. All the best for the future Lynne, Director of People and Culture
