J'ai postulé via un recruteur. Le processus a pris plus de 2 mois. J'ai passé un entretien chez DoorDash

      Entretien

This was an extensive process nearly two months and in total 8 hours which included a “working session”. The recruiter was very responsive overall, that said there were a few changes that as a candidate should have been informed of. I was notified in the third round towards the end of the nearly 4 hour interview, by the interviewer who was 10 minutes late, that they were now the hiring manager due to changes in the organization. I was caught off guard as this definitely created some stress on my end as I wasn’t prepared for this news. This specific interviewer was visually distracted and the tone an expression in their delivery and questioning technique made me feel as though they had no interest in me as a candidate or what I had to share. The interview wrapped up 10 minutes early so our entire interview was about 20 minutes. As someone who is the hiring manager for the role I would have expected a greater level of engagement and maturity where is they were not approachable or welcoming. I didn’t feel a vibe with this newly appointed hiring manager and knowing that they could potentially be my boss, I had intended on withdrawing but received a surprising email from Recruiting requesting and additional hour for a working session with the team and ultimately decided to move forward because at this point I had already invested nearly 7 hours to the process. The working session itself took me about 8 hours as it included a couple of exercises. Presentation day came in which a few questions that were asked were more hypothetical vs behavioral and I was asked to send my presentation to the recruiter. I was a bit turned off by this request as this was my personal work and intellectual property built for the purpose of showcasing my capabilities and strategic thought process. I did as requested but removed all links and attached screenshots instead. Being in recruiting I left the interview anticipating that I would not be receiving an offer and that was confirmed this week. After reflection it’s distasteful that I would be asked to send in my presentation AFTER the fact. When I asked for feedback, the recruiter mentioned my individual interviews were strong but my responses in the presentation to some of the hypothetical questions lacked “strategy”. Which leaves me to wonder why they actually wanted me to send over my presentation.I thanked the recruiter and provided some feedback from a candidate experience perspective regarding how extensive the entire process was requiring a lot of time away from my current job responsibilities and personal life. Overall I found the experience with the newly appointed hiring manager most disappointing. As a hiring manager myself, it’s our jobs to show up on time, show interest in the candidates, and sell the company and opportunity we are hiring for. My experience felt extremely transactional. I had been advised early in the process that the recruiting org at Doordash is green and this is also reflective in recruiting leadership based on my interview experience.
