      Entretien pour Product Manager

      8 juill. 2020
      Candidat à l'entretien anonyme
      Aucune offre
      Expérience négative
      Entretien facile

      Candidature

J'ai postulé via un recruteur. Le processus a pris 4 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien chez DoorDash en avr. 2020

      Entretien

The C-Suite Product leader berated me, then rescinded the offer. It was an easy, straightforward interview process. After I received a verbal offer, I was told to meet with the C-level product head as a formality to determine which team I want to join. What followed was the strangest "sell call" of my life. He started off the call by saying "I already told the recruiter not to recruit people from your company because you're all extremely overpaid." Then for the next 40 minutes, he ranted at me, saying gems such as "Clearly all the PMs at your company are miserable because half of them have interviewed at DoorDash, but then they reject DoorDash because we can't offer that much" and "The only reason Google & Facebook are able to get top talent is because they overpay their PMs, but nobody actually wants to work there." When I answered his question about where my other offers were from, he said, "Those companies have no connecting thread whatsoever. Are you just spraying your application everywhere to see what sticks? Are you even passionate about anything?" Then, without telling me comp ranges or even which team I'd be placed on, he pressured me, "Are you going to say yes to DoorDash? If not, there's no point in us wasting time with sending you a written offer." I was still in shock, and assured him that I was still interested. After the "team match call that's just a formality," the recruiter sent me a generic email saying they were no longer moving forward with me. It's clear that the C-suite head of product had previous negative experiences with candidates from my company, but it's shameful that he spent the 40 minutes slewing insults instead of actually asking me any questions about what team I wanted to join. The exchange was extremely unprofessional on both the C suite and recruiter's sides, and I have a gut feeling that their high rejection rate is due to the complete disrespect they exhibit toward female candidates, as opposed to the fact that they don't pay market rate.

a recruiter chat then a phone screen with a PM that was like mix of product sense and how you rank features and stuff. tthe virtual onsite was four rounds: analytics, product sense, prioritization, and values. the prioritization interview is easily the toughest part of the loop. they don't want generic roadmaps; you have to balance limited resources across their three-sided market (dashers, restaurants, customers) and make really hard trade-offs on who wins and who loses in a given scenario. product sense was super grounded. they aren't looking for you to pitch shiny new app features. we mostly just talked through how to fix things when a live order goes sideways, or what your move is when a neighborhood suddenly runs out of drivers. analytics round was heavy on metric trade-offs, and the values chat was basically checking how you deal when things go wrong with process or other stakeholders, etc. for prep, I’d sayt ditch the standard pm frameworks and actually study gig economy mechanics (there are a lot of gud resources available online). i grabbed a mock interview on prepfully with a doordash pm beforehand and it really helped me get a grip on the marketplace balancing act. you have to be ready to defend your logic when they push back.

Had a call with the recruiter, then product prioritization round (screen interview). They were looking for defining metrics, users, mapping user journey, identifying and prioritizing pain points and proposing solutions

Recruiter screen, a product prioritization case, and an onsite. Review marketplace companies, and how to improve product usage experiences - these will be tested in the cases. Rest of the interviews are standard behavioral, very close to the document sent by the recruiter
