Entretien
I had submitted my CV for a consulting position and the company's CEO and founder contacted me because he wanted to hire me as Social Protection Officer. We had a chat to talk about the position, company and both of our expectations. When I explained to him about my recent career move of quitting my old job and focusing 100 % on applying and getting a position with a purpose/impact as soon as possible, he asked me the following question “Do you have rich parents?” I was so shocked by this question that I could not think of an answer right away and I tried to explain why I was following my dreams, instead of directly pointing out that this was a very inappropriate and unprofessional question. I am truly wondering how someone working in the field of international development and human rights, pushing for equality, and working against discrimination and prejudices can ask this kind of question and thereby do the exact opposite of what his organisation and field represent. For this reason, I did not want to work for Development Pathways anymore and stopped the application process.
