I had an excellent experience with a recruiter who was a joy to communicate with, she was polite, attentive and punctual. My initial interview with her was great. Unfortunately, the second interview was with a Domain Expert and in hindsight was very unfair. This domain expert seemed to not be interested in doing an interview, we spoke on current news - elections, natural disasters, tech, both domestically and internationally for some time. It felt more like an attempt to see what I wasn't aware of in the news, rather than seeing if I was a good fit for the position. Well, she eventually won, she found a small event that occurred across the world that I was unaware of, and she shortly ended the interview after. I wasn't invited for a third interview at their office. I reached out to the initial recruiter about what I could had done better in the interview or to prepare myself as a candidate at their company. Luckily the recruiter was very receptive to giving feedback and chatting over the phone. The recruiter looked at the domain expert's notes and pointed back to this lapse in knowledge in that current event, as me me not being as up to date on news as they would like. I thanked her for her time and she invited me to reapply in the future.
