J'ai postulé en ligne. J'ai passé un entretien chez DNB (Oslo) en mars 2023

      Entretien

Worse interview experience of my life. I recently submitted my application for the Backend Software Developer position at DNB PM Digital Labs, a role that required being part of a focused team responsible for innovating and strategizing solutions for DNB's retail market utilizing both contemporary and time-tested technologies. Following my application, I was invited for an initial interview with two recruitment team members. The conversation was constructive, centered around my professional experiences and the particulars of the position. Subsequently, I was assigned a case study, which I was expected to prepare and deliver within slightly over a week. The task was to develop a loan application where users could submit and advisors could review applications. The scope of the task was extensive, including but not limited to creating a Single Page Application, implementing user access controls, using a variety of programming languages, deploying the application on AWS or Azure, implementing Cloudwatch monitoring, writing regression and unit tests, and thoroughly documenting the process. Additionally, bonus points were awarded for implementing a Serverless Architecture using AWS Lambda, setting up a CI/CD pipeline, and provisioning cloud resources using terraform as Infrastructure as Code. Given my regular work hours, dedicating the requisite time to this assignment was challenging. However, I was highly motivated and committed to the process, which led me to utilize my free time, including weekends, to complete the task. Approximately a month later, I received an automated response from DNB, indicating that my application for the backend developer position was no longer under consideration. The communication was signed by an individual not previously involved in the recruitment process and lacked specific reference to the position in question. Given that I had applied to several similar roles within DNB, the email led to some confusion. I was taken aback that, despite the considerable effort and time invested in the project, the company opted to send an automated response instead of personal communication. Seeking clarification, I reached out to the recruiters via email to ascertain if the aforementioned communication was related to my application. Unfortunately, my inquiry went unanswered. Upon reviewing my application logs and monitoring, I discovered that the application link I provided had not registered any traffic since its submission, indicating that my work had not been evaluated or tested. Despite several follow-up attempts to ascertain the status of my application, I received no response. This lack of communication, often referred to as 'ghosting', is a disappointing reflection on an applicant's experience. The experience has influenced my perception of DNB, raising questions about their regard for candidates. As such, I have made the decision not to pursue further opportunities or engage with their products or services in the future. I believe that a company's recruitment process is indicative of their overall culture and values, and this experience has left a profound impact on my opinion of DNB.
