The hiring manager contacted me through LinkedIn, then the recruiter followed up. Had one phone conversation with each. Hiring manager told me to plan on in-person interviews the following Wednesday, and he wanted writing samples and references in advance. The requested materials were submitted on time, but the interview date he specified passed without comment, and he didn't contact the references he insisted on. HR sent a form letter rejection. Entirely unprofessional, and disrespectful of my references' time and attention.
