I was initially very enthusiastic about the opportunity to join DHL as an HR Business Partner. The recruiter who conducted the initial phone screen was warm, professional, and really took the time to explain the role and company culture, which left me feeling optimistic.
Unfortunately, that changed drastically during the interview with the hiring manager. She came across as condescending, dismissive, and generally uninterested in having a meaningful conversation. It felt more like an interrogation than a professional discussion. The lack of respect and basic courtesy was disappointing, especially for a leadership position in HR.
It’s not surprising to hear there has been high turnover on her team or difficulty filling the role—this interaction made it very clear why that might be the case. It’s a shame, because the company itself seems to have strong potential, but working under this kind of management would be a deal-breaker for many experienced HR professionals.
